Artificial Grass Installation

We deliver the complete solution: from excavation and drainage to a finished green. With trusted partners who know the material.

Complete solution

From ground to green — we handle it all

An artificial grass installation is only as good as the sub-base it rests on. A green that settles, bounces or drains poorly is never a question of the grass — it is always a question of the foundation.

We work with trusted, experienced installation partners who know the requirements for artificial grass sub-bases inside and out. Kunstgræsfabrikken advises on design, material selection and specifications — and coordinates everything from start to finish.

How a green is built

Every layer has a purpose. Skip one and you'll notice it within a few years.

5
Artificial grass
Putting green, tee surface, sport or patio grass — depends on intended use
4
Sand layer
Levelling layer in crushed quartz sand — ensures a flat, stable surface for laying
3
Compacted sub-base
Load-bearing layer that distributes weight and prevents settlement — typically 10–15 cm
2
Drainage layer
Crushed stone 8/16 mm — channels rainwater away and prevents frost damage in the sub-base
1
Excavation
Removal of topsoil and unsuitable layers — depth depends on existing ground conditions

Construction varies according to type (putting green, patio grass, sport) and site conditions.

Step by step

  1. 1

    Survey and consultation

We visit the site, assess ground conditions and drainage options, and give you a precise recommendation on construction, dimensions and choice of artificial grass before any work begins.

  2. 2

    Excavation and levelling

Our installation partners excavate to the correct depth and ensure the right fall for drainage. Topsoil removal and disposal are included in the project.

  3. 3

    Drainage layer and compacted sub-base

The crushed stone drainage layer is laid and compacted. The compacted sub-base completes the load-bearing structure and provides the solid, stable base that prevents settlement over time.

  4. 4

    Sand levelling

A top layer of quartz sand is precisely levelled — this is where you win or lose the millimetres that make the difference between a perfect and an uneven green.

  5. 5

    Artificial grass laying

The artificial grass is rolled out, cut to size and secured along edges and joins. We ensure correct fibre orientation and a clean, professional finish.

  6. 6

    Edge finishing and infill

Edges are finished with an edge or fringe profile. If the project includes infill — typically quartz sand for putting or rubber granules for sport — this is applied and brushed in as a final step.

Our trusted installation partners who carry out the groundwork

The people who dig, build and lay

All installation work is carried out by our trusted partners, with whom we have collaborated for many years. They know the requirements for artificial grass sub-bases inside and out — they excavate, build up and lay the green.

You deal with us alone. We coordinate everything, supply the materials and are on hand from start to handover.
